Bioinformatics

A study of the interface between biotechnology and information technology. This section of Bioinformatics focuses on the analysis of nucleic acid sequences in the context of molecular diagnostics, and is designed for majors in this field. Students use online software and databases to make biological and biomedical inferences from sequence data. Experience with computer programming languages is not required, nor is any programming taught in this section. Prerequisite: Principles of Genetics.
